目前，常见的危险品运输风险因素包括几个方面:
(1)如托运人和货运代理有意或无意地不做危险货物申报，利用与普通货物之间的运价差获取不当得利;
(2)托运人和货运代理对危险货物无知而导致在申报、包装、装箱等方面的疏忽;
(3)危险品装箱不当，致使危险货物无法经受海上运输的常规风险;
(4)对《联合国国际海运危险货物规则》(国际危规)缺乏了解，托运人或货运代理未对装载危险货物的集装箱进行正确和充分的标签、标汜和标示;危险品集装箱没有按照《国际危规》的要求进行船舶积载或隔离，或被错误地装载在了船舶不适合的位置上;
(5)有关危险品集装箱被装载在厂不具备相应类别危险品的船上等。
上述风险中，应该受到谴责的是托运人或托运人的货运代理人故意隐瞒货物的危险特性。一旦事故发生，瞒报就在事实上剥夺了承运人正确施救的机会。
