港口翻车机指一种用来翻卸铁路敞车散料的大型机械设备。可将有轨车辆翻转或倾斜，使煤靠自重卸下的一种装卸机械，适用于运输量大的港口和冶金、煤炭、热电等工业部门。

翻车机工作原理是将载货散车推入形似转简的金属构架内，由压车油缸和靠车油缸共同作用夹紧后，由驱动装置使转简旋转140~180”，车内的散装物料在自重作用下卸入地下的地面皮带上，由地而皮带机将卸下的散料运送到需要的地方。其中，传简式细车机成用最广。早期设备只能错卸1节车皮，规在最大的明车机可以翻卸4节车皮，极大地提高了装卸效率，
